DeBorah & Stephen Holiday Soulful Strut

Today Stephen and I took advantage of the 50 degree temps and mild weather to take in the Holiday Sights/Sites and Sounds of Manhattan.  I featured some photos in my previous post but here are some quirky and fun things we spotted while walking from 42nd Street Grand Central Terminal as we made our way towards 34th Street Penn Station.  From East to West and All the Best!

Happy Holidays! Happy Hanukkah! Merry Christmas!  Joyful Kwanzaa & Happy New Year!

Soulful Strut | The Daily Post

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/strut/

What’s a Soulful Strut you ask? Well in addition to being a song by the late Great Grover Washington Jr. It’s also my theme song for my Photography walks around Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan.

Many years ago I had the pleasure of not only seeing Grover Washington Jr in concert but meeting him after the show.

Today I took a Soulful Strut along Court Street in Brooklyn. Purchased cat food for Sylvester from a family owned pet store, said Hello to a Doggy in the Window, made friends with giant Lego toys, marveled at some odd flowerpots, danced the Hulu with President Obama and of course bought some human treats for myself.  All in all it was a beautiful sunny day for a photo walk!!

Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge (COB) is all about those great photos that you take which really don’t seem to fit into a common category.  We’ve all taken them and like them, because we just can’t hit delete and get rid of them.  There is never a theme to this challenge, so what is an odd ball is all up for you to discover and photograph.

Soulful Strut ~~ Herkimer Street #1

Soulful Strut ~~ Herkimer Street. Today I walked along Herkimer Street from Utica to Atlantic Avenues.  #Brooklyn
Brooklyn is known as the Borough of Churches so on today’s Soulful Strut, 12/7/2015 I decided to focus on churches during my walk. As you can see many of these churches started in the 1800s. Fascinating architecture! Also many churches have Soup Kitchens and Food Pantries which help feed local communities. Many people criticize the church but for all it’s faults and flaws many people in the neighborhood depend on churches for food, clothing and other types of social service assistance.  Many people who are in need of good healthy food do not qualify for government Food Stamps so they must depend on the House of God to feed themselves and their families.
Veterans, the elderly, children, the disabled, poor, working class and anyone in need can get food in New York City. Praise God for the church and the ministry of Jesus which commands us to feed the hungry!
As you can see I’ve also snapped photos of other buildings and items that caught my fancy. My Cat Fancy included! LOL!  Enjoy!

Pitkin Promenade

#Brooklyn   #Brownsville   Today’s Soulful Strut took me from Rockaway Avenue over to Pitkin Avenue and completing my promenade at Pennsylvania Avenue.  I Love Architecture.  I always wonder what old buildings once housed before new stores or people took them over. Buildings have a history and are always speaking to us if we only listen.  Brownsville ~~ My Village |   Pitkin Promenade.

Pitkin Avenue Mural Dreams

Greetings My Photography Fans. Yesterday some of you were unable to view the pictures I posted of my walk along Pitkin and Ralph Avenues in Brooklyn, New York. Today I am trying a different way to download and incorporate the snapshots into this post which I truly hope will be more successful and everyone will be able to enjoy my pictures. I also threw in some weird bird sculpture photos I took in Manhattan near 34th Street last March.  Here goes!!
