Coney Island Beach days in August

Memories of Summer 2018

During the last week of August specifically the last Wednesday and Thursday at the end of August I went to Coney Island Beach and Boardwalk when the temperature hit 100 degrees in New York City.  It was much cooler and more refreshing at Coney Island Brighton Beach.

The Two Big Poppas

Mural in Bushwick, Brooklyn

The street in fact that entire block is being worked on however I would suppose that the workmen are used to people stopping and taking pictures of this Outstanding Street Mural.

“Biggie. Biggie. Biggie. Can’t you see sometimes your words just mystify me!”

The British Big Poppa aka Alfred Hitchcock well he is one of my favorite Movie Directors of all time.  The Birds scared me half to death as did Psycho.  However my favorite Hitchcock movie is “Rear Window” with Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly who later married Prince Rainier of Monaco and became Princess Grace.

Back in 2016 an artist created an outdoor exhibit for a New York Museum based on the Edward Hopper painting and the creepy hotel in the film Psycho. It was a facade. Nothing on the inside so one could not go in. On the other hand who in their right mind would want to?!  It was so realistic that I expected to hear Janet Leigh screaming and Anthony Perkins to pop out any second!

Now Time for Goosebumps and Heebie-jeebies.

Where I’ve been and Where I’m Going

August 16th after ten years of service I retired from the museum.

I’ve had the privilege to be surrounded by beautiful lovely wonderful art on a daily basis as well as excellent co-workers who are artists. Being around gifted and talented people stimulated me to start creating my own artworks of Mixed Media Collages and eventually acrylic paintings. This gave me the opportunity to participate and exhibit in several exhibitions.

Some of my paintings and collages:

Now that I’m retired I’ve decided to devote even more focus and determination towards my artwork. Back in April I opened my Etsy Shop.

I’ve also identified a building on Fulton Street near Rockaway Avenue as a potential Art Gallery.

Brooklyn Public Library

Saratoga Branch

I have been living in Brooklyn for about six years. Today for the first time I paid a visit to one of the smaller branch libraries ~~ The Saratoga Branch just off Macon Street. Actually it was the first time that I went to any Brooklyn Library Branch but now that I’m retired No more time restraints.  I can visit as many Library branches as a I wish.

A bit of a walk but worth it. Basically I went to print a document. I was not successful however it is a nice library.  Very up to date and modern.  Air Conditioned.  I definitely will return to explore this branch in depth. Questioning the Librarian about different services I inquired as to whether I could used either my Manhattan or Queens Library cards.  Nope.  So presently my Drivers License ID, she made a new card for…
