I am The Roaming Urban Gypsy
Wherever the Gypsy Roams is Home!
My specialty is Street/Urban photography, a genre that lends itself to the quirky and unusual inhabitants of the Big Apple. My photographs reflect the eclectic people and places within New York City. My Subway photos reflect the offbeat nature of the New York City Subway system ~ A Virtual treasure trove of Eclectic Abstraction.
The photos are in random order because like the various trains I ride on daily, I never know who or what I might meet on any given day. This is a coalition of disparate images whose common thread are the trains, the same trains that connect New York City’s variety of cultures.
I use abstract elements so the viewer will form their own street and/or subway story inside their minds imagination using these selections.
New York City subways, trains and platforms and the great melting pot collage that reflect its ridership provide never ending sources and venues of Big Apple’s quirky and unusual inhabitants. Much maligned and cast in an unfavorable light being compared to the fairly pristine Washington, DC subway system New York’s underground transportation system has a flavor all its own a result of over 110 years of moving Gotham’s diverse city dwellers hither and thither. Our underground rails are a network of arteries and veins that keep time with the pulse of the city.
My photographs reflect the eclectic people and places within New York City. My Subway photos reflect the offbeat nature of the New York City Subway system ~ A Virtual treasure trove of Eclectic Abstraction. Distinctive. Everybody can be a star on the platforms and cars filled with a captive yet every changing audience. The New York City subways are a series of cities within the major city. Out of hundreds of subway snapshots I’ve taken over the years I chose these because they showcase the whimsical, wacky and the sublime.
The photos are in random order because like the various trains I ride on daily, I never know who or what I might meet on any given day. This is a coalition of disparate images whose common thread are the trains, the same trains that connect New York City’s variety of cultures.
To Paraphrase an old TV program there are 8 million stories in the naked city but each one unique and singular in its depiction, depth and understanding.
Please enjoy my slices of the Big Apple served up for your viewing pleasure.

I’m going to get a good look at New York here I reckon.
Yes My specialty is Street or Urban photography but I also like to include the many parks, gardens and green spaces that New York City has to offer its residents and visitors.
You have a very, very targeted subject matter which I like very much. Extremely intriguing.
WOW! I had NO idea this was your blog??? Love the photography! You really should be in a gallery? May this be your new venture? hhhhhmmmm…. Love the sharing of this blog and seeing the Big Apple.
CaT
Thanks. Not as old as my other blog but I really enjoy photography and I’m leaning more towards this creative direction. I began Roaming Urban Gypsy in 2015 and have been going full speed ahead since then. I have also considered showcasing my works in a gallery. Will let you know when that venture appears. 🙂 ❤
Well, I better be the FIRST Invited to your first gallery show missy. LOL.
You are a exceptional photographer! Great pic’s … Blessings ~ CaT
I ❤ Cat Lyon!! My Ivory Queen Soul Sister!!
I just discovered your blog, and I’m having fun exploring it. Unique, interesting, I especially like your photos and how you capture routine moments and make them special. I don’t think I’ve seen a similar blog. I’ll be spending hours here!
Thanks. I’m elated and honored by your kind words. Reading your feedback gives me so much encouragement. I really Love photography and living in New York provides ample opportunities.
Please feel free to tour my photos blog and leave comments.
Ooooh, I like it! Thank you for sharing your daily experiences.
You’re Welcome. My Pleasure. Feel free to look around and join me on my journeys.
I certainly will!
I noticed that you subscribed to my YouTube channel, thanks Deborah!
Great photo cover – I know that vista well (I lived in NY for many years).
Listen, this may or may not appeal to you and I am going to offer it anyway. Would you like to do a free forgiveness coaching session? For me personally, forgiveness has opened a profound doorway to my own self-love. When I was in NY, I had a pretty severe eating disorder, and for me forgiveness was the way out, or more accurately – through ❤ .
Deborah, it's completely fine to say no, please know that. And us talking doesn't mean that you will do a coaching program….the session is a gift to you.
Let me know either way and if yes I will send you options for talking. And either way, I am sending you much loving and I am going to check out your blog!
Many blessings, Deborah.
-Debbie
Thanks and Yes to the Free session.
That’s wonderful, Deborah. Why don’t you email me at weloveyou@forgivingconnects.com, and we can set up a good time. Sending you blessings, Debbie 🙂
i can’t see the photos, but the comments… they’re very praising. I hope you have your gallery dream fulfilled.
Thank you. One of my retirement goals. Glad that you stopped by.
i wish you all the success.
Thanks. I meant to say Social Butterfly but either way I’m happy to be out of the public eye rat race. I enjoy reading your blog. It’s food for thought.
thank you.
Yes. Retirement means living the life that I want. Amazing.
I’m glad for you. most people retire only to become restless.
At first it was weird not having to go to work but I like the ability to do absolutely nothing. However I may get a part time job just for extra money. It depends on how I feel as time goes by.
Hi, I’m new here. I like your photos.
Thanks. Welcome to my Photography Blog Roaming Urban Gypsy which offers up slices of The Big Apple aka New York City.
