The Evergreens Cemetery Videos Part Two

The Evergreens Cemetery Videos Part Two

Please Forgive any Duplicates or Repeats. I’m still Learning how to Videotape and my skills are not that great. My prayer is that God will Bless me with an actual good quality video camera and somebody who will teach me how to use it effectively.

I tried to put them in chronological order but they might not follow as they should. Please indulge my errors. Gradually my goal is to gain more videotaping experience.

THANK YOU!

Coney Island Beach days in August

Memories of Summer 2018

During the last week of August specifically the last Wednesday and Thursday at the end of August I went to Coney Island Beach and Boardwalk when the temperature hit 100 degrees in New York City.  It was much cooler and more refreshing at Coney Island Brighton Beach.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden Mild Winter Day

Sunday Trees – 278

Sunday Trees – 278

Today I went to see the Georgia O’Keefe special exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum then I went next door to another one of my favorite Happy Places the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It is one of those rare mild winter days as we edge towards spring and along with some other hardy Brooklynites I took in the bare stark beauty of this beautiful day.  I will talk about the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit in a future post.

Here are some Trail Talks narrated by yours truly The Roaming Urban Gypsy.  Enjoy. Please excuse my voice and quality of the videos I’m still Learning.  My pronunciation of the Latin names for these plants is awful and once I began editing the videos I realized that I kept using the word Botanical as opposed to Botanic. Actually the Queens gardens is name the Queens Botanical Gardens. Eventually perhaps in the Merry Merry Month of May which is my next vacation time.

Thank you!!

The Wall at 14th Street Union Square

I don’t expect this blog post to get many Likes or even views but as a Black Woman Living in a racist sexist ageist country about to be taken over by the devil and his cohorts I cannot ignore what goes on around me and make believe Life is all sugar coated candy canes.

On 9/11 2001 we pulled together as one country, one people. We had a sense of nation and unity. On 11/9 2016 that was all shattered. Hopes for the future died. The rift, divide, chasm caused by the hateful words of one man, one male is who now preparing to be the “leader of the not so free world” has shattered all illusions of unity. He has dug from the filth swampy wastelands to stir up hatreds and vendettas that should have remained buried. Our county has now been thrown into an uncertain chaos which will affect everyone whether they care to admit it or not.

But then as my Dad Edward G. Palmer used to say when I was a girl, “I’m Free, Black and 21!”  So I express my opinion beholden to No One and never needing validation.

Let’s face it, when many white people look at me it’s like they just tasted something nasty and kept trying to spit it out of their mouths. Bring out your spittoons!!

Brutally Honest! No Apologies!!

The Wall @ 14th Street Union Square

The Wall at 14th Street Union Square Subway Station. I did not add my sentiments I only recorded the feelings and emotions of my fellow New Yorkers. As a photographer I’m also in the position of being a social activist. I do not live in an isolated bubble. I must record what goes on around me as did many other photographers who preceded me during the Harlem Renaissance, during the 1940s, 50s & 60s Civil Rights Movements, Disability Rights Movement, Women’s Rights plus the protests, marches and demonstrations of our Native American Sisters and brothers.

Given what is going on in this country no traveling for Thanksgiving this year. We are just target practice for gun wielding racists.

Was the Band on the Run? Did they disappear from Central Park only to reappear at 14th Street Union Square Subway Station?  And Who is that Masked Man in the Band?  Are they trapped in that Teeny Tiny Diorama located at Best Buy 86th Street? Is this beginning to sound like an episode of the Twilight Zone?

Only you know the answer?!!

Part III: People, Places & Things

If you want to share a literal image of the actual word, do that. But if you’d rather play with word association, post something that reminds you of the specific word, or something you use the word for, do so. It only has to make sense to you. Have fun and keep on photographing!
