Soulful Strut ~~ Herkimer St. #2

Part Two

Soulful Strut ~~ Herkimer Street. Today I walked along Herkimer Street from Utica to Atlantic Avenues.  #Brooklyn

Brooklyn is known as the Borough of Churches so on today’s Soulful Strut, 12/7/2015 I decided to focus on churches during my walk. As you can see many of these churches started in the 1800s. Fascinating architecture! Also many churches have Soup Kitchens and Food Pantries which help feed local communities. Many people criticize the church but for all it’s faults and flaws many people in the neighborhood depend on churches for food, clothing and other types of social service assistance.  Many people who are in need of good healthy food do not qualify for government Food Stamps so they must depend on the House of God to feed themselves and their families.
Veterans, the elderly, children, the disabled, poor, working class and anyone in need can get food in New York City. Praise God for the church and the ministry of Jesus which commands us to feed the hungry!
As you can see I’ve also snapped photos of other buildings and items that caught my fancy. My Cat Fancy included! LOL!  Enjoy!

Pitkin Promenade

#Brooklyn   #Brownsville   Today’s Soulful Strut took me from Rockaway Avenue over to Pitkin Avenue and completing my promenade at Pennsylvania Avenue.  I Love Architecture.  I always wonder what old buildings once housed before new stores or people took them over. Buildings have a history and are always speaking to us if we only listen.  Brownsville ~~ My Village |   Pitkin Promenade.

Pitkin Avenue Mural Dreams

Greetings My Photography Fans. Yesterday some of you were unable to view the pictures I posted of my walk along Pitkin and Ralph Avenues in Brooklyn, New York. Today I am trying a different way to download and incorporate the snapshots into this post which I truly hope will be more successful and everyone will be able to enjoy my pictures. I also threw in some weird bird sculpture photos I took in Manhattan near 34th Street last March.  Here goes!!

A Visit To The Dunes….Echoes Of My Neighbourhood #8

#Brooklyn   Brooklyn, New York ~~ Today’s Soulful Strut took me from Rockaway Avenue where I made a right turn onto Pitkin Avenue. I walked along Pitkin Avenue all the way to Howard Avenue.  The photos of the little guy in the flower pot and the cookie message were taken 11/28/2015 along Ralph Avenue.

#Brooklyn    #SoulfulStrut

Today’s Soulful Strut took me from Rockaway Avenue over to Broadway along where the J subway train runs over to Lexington which is just a couple of blocks beyond Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

So far today I’ve had a yogurt, banana, and am now having my steamed broccoli & cauliflower mix. While I was out for my Soulful Strut I stopped at the grocery store to buy some healthy food items. Purchased two Coconut Waters.  Walking exercise is a wonderful thing!
