Treetops Listen For Dreams

This my most recent acrylic painting inspired by the Cyndi Lauper song, “Time After Time.”

Time After Time

This song touches my heart, soul and inner being because I once was that Young Woman. An outcast. An outsider. Seeking. Yearning. Wondering. Only my parents let me be me. If not society. See you soon Mom & Dad.

Time After Time

Cyndi Lauper

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick
And think of you
Caught up in circles
Confusion is nothing new
Flashback, warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories
Time after

Sometimes you picture me
I’m walking too far ahead
You’re calling to me, I can’t hear
What you’ve said
Then you say, go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows
You’re wondering if I’m okay
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time

If you’re

    1. Yes. I too admire Cyndi Lauper. I feel she is underrated as a musical artist. Her lyrics, song style, that slightly raspy voice delivered songs that had a message. Sometimes care free like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” or more on the serious side like Time After Time.

    1. Thank you! This song has special meaning for me. Actually has different meanings to me at different points in my life. My artwork chose the song for me. I’ve always enjoyed Cyndi Lauper’s music and this particular song has many layers. Really deep. I participated in a small private exhibition in my neighborhood last Saturday. I’m in two Art exhibitions this week. One in Brooklyn near where I live and the other in Manhattan.

    1. Thanks! I took several pictures with two different camera phones which yielded different results. The fuzzy hazy quality adds to the Dream Sequence sensation. Plus I have always been a fan of Cyndi Lauper. Her voice has that perfect blend of raspyness that lends itself to my painting.
